皮条客我的车

Okay so first of all this isn’t X-to tha-Z Xzibit, it’s the Mr.

Secondly the title above means Pimp My Ride…. And with that I want to talk a bit about car buying in China. As a rule, credit doesn’t really exist here. Perhaps that’s why they don’t have a debt ceiling issue you may say – and you’d be correct. Maybe it also has something to do with trust, but who am I to judge???

Point being, when you want to buy a car you pay cash or use a debit card. This means no financing, no checks, and certainly no drive it off the lot/used car salesman tactics. The other point worth mentioning is that cars here are ‘spensive. I’m talking, like, you gotta be Oprah wealthy to own something nice; luxury tax on all imports doubles the cost of the car. So a USD$50K car in the US costs USD$100K in China.

That being said, I snapped a few photos on the way home tonight that are worth sharing…..please to enjoy!

Honey??? Do you want the G Wagon or the Rover today?

Better with its top off!
Nausea. Heartburn. Indigestion. Upset Stomach. Diarrhea. Yo. Pepto-Bismol.

Bit of a rough shot, but a nice matte finish Bentley.

Extra long edition for those of you who need lie flat space. A rare white beauty.

I look at these photos and wonder what these people do for a living and what their lives must be like. I bet they do the same to me when I drive around in my Great Wall Motors Haval H3, a knock-off of a Mitsubishi Montero.
